Resources

I hope one of the primary messages that emerges from this blog is that it’s okay to seek and ask for help. Here are some resources that have been helpful for me. I hope they help you.

www.americanmeditationsociety.org: The American Meditation Society offers online classes in how to meditate. I took two classes with them. They were instrumental in helping me to find the stillness within me and begin to successfully manage my anxiety. The classes benefitted me in many other ways as well.

www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org: 1-800-273-8255  I recently called The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline to get help when a loved one was having suicidal thoughts. The person who took the call was extremely knowledgeable, non-judgmental and helpful. He gave me the information I needed to help my loved one that night. It was the first step in a series of events that led to a vastly improved situation for the person I care about. If you need help yourself or want to seek help for a family member or friend, call them.

www.nami.org: The National Alliance on Mental Illness is an invaluable resource for anyone struggling with mental illness. Whether you are living with a mental health issue or love someone who is, you can get information, education and help here. I follow them on Facebook.

www.eldercare.acl.gov:   A service of the U.S. Administration on Aging, the elder cate locator can help you locate senior services, caregivers and legal resources specializing in family and elder issues.
